Chris Green MP has announced that The Rope and Anchor in Atherton has won the constituency’s nomination for the prestigious Parliamentary Pub of the Year award.
The award sees the MP for each constituency nominate their favourite pub, however Mr Green let his constituents decide who should be Bolton West and Atherton’s nomination.
There were thousands of votes received via Facebook and email, however The Rope and Anchor received the most and will now go on to represent Bolton West and Atherton in the national competition.
The Rope and Anchor also received numerous comments about their pub, praised for their regular events, great facilities, charity and voluntary work for local causes and the friendly, warm welcome each customer receives.
Mr Green said: “It has been fantastic to see so many local residents getting behind their local pubs throughout this competition.
“The Rope and Anchor is thoroughly deserving of Bolton West and Atherton’s nomination, with their brilliant contributions to our local community.
“It was fab to visit the team at the Rope and Anchor and congratulate them on their nomination and I look forward to hearing about their progress in the Parliamentary Pub of the Year competition.”
Runners up in the competition include The Beaumont, Ladybridge, the Rosehill Tavern, Westhoughton and Tail’s and Ale’s, Horwich.
