I’m very disappointed by the news that the Inspector has given the go ahead for 300 homes to be built on Lee Hall in Westhoughton – but I can’t say that I am surprised.
Yet again, the Inspector has given the same reason: that Bolton Council hasn’t met its own housing target. This was the same reason we had for Bowlands Hey and Hill Lane in Blackrod.
The Greater Manchester Mayor and our Council Leader need to get their act together and get the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework written. Until they’ve done this, we’ll continue to see more decisions like this one.
This development will have a huge impact on our town’s already congested roads, creaking public transport and over-flowing schools. It’s no wonder that Bolton West residents are starting to think that they are nothing more than a cash cow for Bolton Council, with no infrastructure or investment to support these huge developments.
