By now you may have heard that Bolton Council Leader Cliff Morris has approved draft plans for thousands of houses close to Chequerbent roundabout.
Over 2,000 people signed our petition asking Councillor Morris to use his power to veto these plans after he said that, if he didn’t like them, he would veto them as part of his role representing Bolton on the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
The proposals for nearly 1,700 houses at Chequerbent and then another 1,200 as part of the Hulton Park development will have a massive impact on our area. Our roads, schools and public transport are struggling as it is. With another 12,000 people in these new houses and an extra 6,000 cars on our roads, we just won’t be able to cope.
Now that we know our Council Leader won’t help us, we have one last chance of showing the powers that be that we do not want these houses.
A consultation is now up and running on the draft plans for the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework, including these plans for thousands of houses near Chequerbent. You can have your say online at http://gmsf-consult.objective.co.uk, by email to [email protected], or by post to Greater Manchester Integrated Support Team, PO Box 532, Town Hall, Manchester M60 2LA. All comments must be received by 5.00pm on 23 December 2016.
Please encourage your families and friends to get involved in the consultation. The more people who have their say, the more powerful our argument.
