Bolton West MP Chris Green has pledged to get behind British farming at a special event that saw tractors take over Westminster.
The National Farmers’ Union organised the reception as part of Back British Farming Day, parking tractors outside Parliament and displaying a huge Union Jack made out of British produce.
The MP commented: “British farmers produce the best food in the world and it’s essential that we support this industry to give British farmers a strong long-term future.
“We have some of the highest standards of animal welfare and it is vital that any meat imported to Britain is raised with the same standards.
“I spoke with farmers in my constituency before the EU referendum and what came up time and time again was how EU bureaucracy has restricted the British agricultural industry for decades.
“Brexit is an opportunity for us to get behind British farming with our own tailor-made domestic agricultural policy.”
