Chris Green MP is encouraging local schools to enter Kellogg’s Breakfast Club competition, which could see them win a cash award of £1,000.
The awards helps celebrate the hard work of schools, teachers, parents and children in running breakfast clubs and since its creation 20 years ago, Kellogg’s have invested over £3million into their breakfast club programme, providing funding, cereal donations and training.
Mr Green’s constituency Bolton West has benefitted first hand from the competition, with Johnson Fold Primary School in Hag Fold being chosen as the winner of the Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Award in 2015 and receiving a £1,500 prize.
Kellogg’s have since continued to support over 3,000 breakfast clubs across the UK, which has contributed significantly to improving children’s attendance and attainment as well as alleviating hunger in some cases.
Mr Green said: “Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Award provides a fantastic opportunity for local breakfast clubs to benefit from their funding and support.
“After the success of Johnson Fold Primary School in the awards in 2015, I hope that many more schools will consider putting their breakfast club forward.
“I look forward to hearing if some of our brilliant breakfast clubs are successful in the competition.”
Winning clubs will not only receive funding, they will also be invited to an exclusive award ceremony at the Houses of Parliament
