Chris Green MP has joined over 500 other MPs to plant trees as part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, a network of forest conservation initiatives to mark Her Majesty's lifetime of service to the Commonwealth.
In partnership with the Woodland Trust, the project has seen thousands of people plating saplings, bringing together Her Majesty’s deeply held commitment to the Commonwealth and her little-known love of trees.
Mr Green took part in this initiative in Bolton West and Atherton, planting 1 hazel, 2 silver birch and 2 rowan trees in Smithills in support of the international project
He said: “The Queen has committed her life to the Commonwealth and the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy is a fantastic way to highlight the impact that she has on so many of us around the world.
“Since the project started in 2004, there have been more than 3 million trees planting across the UK and has raised over £7milllion.
“It was a privilege to be a part of this project and I look forward to seeing these trees flourish in the coming years.
