Chris Green MP has submitted his objection letter to a public enquiry to help support Stocks Residents’ Association campaign against the proposed Horwich Golf Course development.
In the letter, the Bolton West and Atherton MP pledges his support for the residents’ association’s fight against Peel’s controversial plans for the golf course site and urges the planning inspectorate to stop the development from going ahead.
The MP also lent a hand at the Stocks Residents’ Association car wash that raised £1,200 and will go on to fund a specialist planning barrister to help fight the development.
Mr Green said: “The ongoing destruction of our green spaces is unacceptable and we are already seeing a major visual impact on our local area. The Peel Group’s proposed develop at Horwich Golf Course will only worsen this.
“We should all be working towards protecting our precious green spaces and developers should instead be opting to pursue some of the many available brown-field sites in our area.
“This application will also result in further increases in the amount of road users, not only increasing pollution but also extending the already intolerable journey times of many local residents.
“I will be supporting Stocks Residents’ Association in their fight against this development and it was a pleasure to join them at their car wash at the weekend.”
The residents’ association is urging local people to submit their objections to the planning inspector by the 23rd October 2018.
