Bolton West MP Chris Green is backing a local community group’s campaign to save their bus service.
Proposals to cancel the 519 and 520 bus services serving Johnson Fold have sparked concern among residents who fear that they will no longer be able to reach schools, GPs and dentists. Local residents group In the Fold launched a petition urging bus operator First Manchester to reconsider the decision.
Now their local MP Chris Green has given the group his backing and will be presenting the petition to bus bosses at a meeting in August.
The MP said: “The 519 bus has served local people in Johnson Fold very well and people here depend upon it to get to local schools and to GP and dentist appointments.
“We can’t have this much needed service taken away, which is why I am urging local people to sign this petition.
“I’ll be raising this issue with transport bosses and urging them to re-consider this decision.”
