Bolton West MP Chris Green donned his combat fatigues recently to take part in a Parliamentary scheme to learn more about the army.
The MP, who was in the Territorial Army and travelled around Europe as a child with his father who served in the army, headed off to the UK Defence Academy in Shrivenham for the first part of the course.
There he had briefings from senior army personnel and even had a go on the firing range.
Chris commented:
“Britain has one of the best militaries in the world but it is not just about the quality of our soldiers, sailors, airmen and equipment – it’s also about the leading academies and post-graduate education. British military academies, such as the Defence Academy, not only train our own military leaders but also those of militaries from all over the world.
“With the first duty of any Government being the protection of its people, participating in this scheme will deepen my understanding of the professionalism, quality and character of the service men and women delivering on this commitment.”
