Chris Green MP has written to the Minister for Sport this week, raising his concerns about the future of Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
In his letter to the Minister for Sport, Mims Davies MP, the Bolton MP asked the government what it can do to ensure that the English Football League (EFL) carries out its responsibility to ensure that football club owners sufficiently pass the ‘fit and proper persons test’.
This comes following the joint letter written to the English Football League (EFL), which was co-signed by Sir David Crausby MP, Yasmin Qureshi MP and Chris Green MP urging the EFL to intervene and support efforts to save the club.
Mr Green said: “Bolton Wanderers are a fantastic local club with a proud history and are at the beating heart of the community, but they are going through some serious financial troubles.
“It is appalling that the current situation at BWFC has been allowed to go on for this long, which is why I have raised my concerns about the club’s situation with the Secretary of State.
“It is also very disappointing that I have not received a response from the EFL in regard to my recent letter signed by the MPs of the other two Bolton constituencies which is why I have also re-contacted the EFL, urging them for a response.”
