Last week’s referendum was clearly a result I campaigned for and I would like to thank everyone across Bolton West and Atherton who engaged in the debate and let me know their views. The vote to Leave the EU was very clear here – the total votes for ‘Leave’ were 63.9% in Wigan and 58.3% in Bolton.
I would also like to thank our Prime Minister for giving the British People the opportunity to have our own say on how we, as a nation, are governed. We must now look to the future and work together to ensure that our great country moves forward. Although I respect David Cameron’s decision to resign, I did sign a letter calling on him to stay in the event of Brexit. Today, as a new chapter opens in our country’s history, I will head back to Westminster where I will work to the benefit of every single person in Bolton West and Atherton, no matter which way they voted.
