In response to Cllr Nick Peel
Welfare reform, immigration control and economic recovery are the three main topics that the people of Bolton West want to discuss on the doorstep. Labour, the official opposition, has just come third in Newark, a seat they used to hold, and second in the EU election and yet they assume that they will form the next government.
Labour voted against every welfare reform, will not deal with immigration and have nothing to say on the economy whilst the coalition has made steady progress in all of these areas. More needs to be done but let us not forget the damage done to the country by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
UKIP gains support from Labour and Conservative voters. If they want their voters back, Labour spokesmen, such as Cllr Nick Peel should stop with the “UKIP may well have a racist and xenophobic agenda” type comments. Labour will find that they can no longer shut down a debate by pointing the finger and shouting “racist”.
With major proposals to develop Bolton town centre including an 11 screen cinema, a £100 million Bolton Wanderers’ development and the redevelopment of the Horwich Loco works, the recovery is coming to Bolton. The Conservatives long term economic plan is delivering a stronger economy that will pay for our NHS, schools and balance our budget so we have a very positive message for the 2015 General Election.
