Bolton Council’s approach to housing seems to be all over the place and is causing a lot of confusion. In today's Bolton News we now find out that in addition to the 1,700 houses being planned on land near to Chequerbent, we could have 1,200 houses built on the Hulton Estate — this is extraordinary.
The confusion the council has allowed to occur comes from not knowing what they want to achieve and not knowing what local infrastructure is needed for local people.
These plans would actually prevent the completion of the A5225 bypass, which is needed a lot more than these houses. It looks like Peel and Bolton Council have been working together on these plans and I would expect the local authority to understand that the A5225 road is vital and that nothing should get in the way of this.
You can view the proposals in more detail at an exhibitions this Saturday between 10am and 1pm at Westhoughton’s Carnegie Hall in Library Street.
