Horwich MP Chris Green has asked Bolton Council to take action after receiving complaints from residents as demolition work starts on Horwich Leisure Centre.
The existing car park is being knocked down to make way for the new centre and although temporary parking bays have been created, local residents say they are not enough.
At a public meeting organised by Horwich First earlier this year, Bolton Community Leisure Trust said that all centre staff would park in a cobbled area at Sam’s Bar, however residents complained that there were less than ten spaces at the site for the leisure centre’s 30 members of staff.
Chris said: “I was assured at a meeting with Bolton Community Leisure Trust earlier this year that there would be enough parking and that residents would not be affected by the new development.
“Since the works have started, however, I’ve received a number of complaints. These problems, all of which were raised by residents, should have been taken on board before the demolition began.
“We now need to see urgent action from the council to make sure that these problems don’t carry on for months and months.”
