Bolton West MP Chris Green has been accredited as ‘Disability Confident’ by a nationwide scheme.
The Disability Confident scheme, run by Department for Work and Pensions, calls on employers to ensure disabled people and those with long term health conditions have the opportunities to fulfil their potential.
As part of the scheme, the MP has undertaken a challenge to encourage employers in Bolton West to sign up to become Disability Confident.
Chris said: “I have pledged to be a ‘Disability Confident’ employer – by employing, promoting and supported disabled people in the workplace – because everyone should have the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions and get on in the workplace, no matter what disability they have.
“That’s why I’m encouraging over employers across Bolton West and Atherton to become ‘Disability Confident’ as well.”
Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work Penny Mordaunt said: “I want to congratulate Chris Green MP for taking steps to create more Disability Confident employers, and helping close the disability employment gap. Unless we enable all of our citizens to reach their full potential our nation never will.
“The scheme not only supports employers who want know how they can make their organisation more inclusive, but the Disability confident kite mark sends a powerful signal to disabled candidates that if they apply to that firm they can have confidence their needs and concerns will be understood and supported.”
