Bolton West & Atherton MP Chris Green is urging local people to share their knowledge about the area for a new campaign- after it was revealed that 84 percent of English people didn't know that the first pair of trainers were produced in Bolton.
Chris is joining Historic England in calling on the public, history groups and experts to help the charity create a list of the 100 buildings and places that best tell England's story and its impact on the world.
The campaign will last a year and is divided into 10 categories: from Science & Discovery and Home & Gardens, to Music & Literature and Industry, Trade & Commerce. The panel of judges includes Mary Beard and Professor Robert Winston and the places that make the list will feature in a podcast series and a book.
Chris said: "Our country has a fantastic story to tell and Bolton West & Atherton are part of that.
"I know that there are plenty of places here in Bolton West & Atherton and around the North West that have made a huge contribution to our country's history which is why I'm backing this campaign.
