Bolton West & Atherton MP Chris Green has been voted onto an important House of Commons Committee.
The local representative has been elected by fellow MPs to sit on the Work and Pensions Select Committee, which examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department for Work and Pensions. The Committee has previously investigated the BHS pension scheme which eventually grew into a wider probe of final salary pensions in the UK.
The former engineer had previously sat on the Science and Technology select committee before the 2017 general election.
Commenting on the appointment, Chris said: “I am delighted to have been elected to this important committee.
“With the rollout of universal credit and the topic of pensions ever-present in local people’s minds, I’m looking forward to getting stuck into this new role.”
