Chris Green MP’s Brexit Q&A event was packed with nearly 200 local residents, who heard him discuss his stance on Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union.
The Bolton West and Atherton MP has been a firm supporter of Brexit and has frequently spoke out against the Chequers proposals, that he argues would not deliver the Brexit the people of Bolton West voted for.
The event saw local residents not only voice their opinions, but also raise their questions to the MP on matters such as a second referendum, immigration policy and trade deal will be made.
Mr Green also live streamed his public meeting through Facebook, so more local residents could engage with the event and this has now been viewed by over 1,500 people.
Mr Green said: “I hold regular public meetings where people have the opportunity to ask me about anything from potholes to the NHS. Brexit is always the most popular topic at these meetings which is why I hosted this special meeting dedicated to discussing our exit from the EU.
“The clear majority of local residents at the meeting were positive about Britain’s future post-Brexit and when the possibility of a second-referendum was raised, it was clearly unpopular.
“People who voted leave are fed up of being told that they didn’t know what they voted for and they now want to see the government get on and deliver an honest Brexit.
“I do lots of canvassing, hold advice surgeries and public meetings so that I can best understand what my constituents concerns are but due to the popularity and importance of Brexit, I will be organising another Q&A dedicated to this matter in the future.”
