Chris Green MP has pushed United Utilities for answers about the disruptive Bolton Road closure in Atherton.
Bolton Road was due to be closed for five days whilst United Utilities fixed a burst water mains, however works have continued past this five day limit, much to the frustration of local residents who have since contacted Chris Green MP for answers.
Mr Green said: “I have been in touch with United Utilities, urging them to complete the work as soon as possible on behalf of local residents and to keep us informed.
“United Utilities explained to me that the damage to the water main was much worse than they expected and sought authorization from Wigan Council to prolong their works for an additional 4 days.
“The authorization for their extended deadline was granted by the council and United Utilities ensured me that the works would be completed by Friday this week, bringing an end to the disruption for local residents.
The works are due to be completed by Friday 9th November and Mr Green has also asked United Utilities to keep him up to date if any further extension to their work is granted.
