Bolton West and Atherton MP Chris Green has spoken out with his objections to the controversial plans to extend Wingates Industrial Estate in Westhoughton.
Proposals submitted by The Harworth Group to Bolton Council outline the creation of a new “employment space” on a large plot of green land to the west of Wingates Industrial Estate.
Local residents have since been in contact with Chris Green MP to voice their concerns about the development going ahead.
Mr Green said: “Local residents are becoming increasingly frustrated with the development of our green spaces and these proposed plans will see even more of our irreplaceable green spaces being destroyed.
“Congestion is also bad enough on Westhoughton’s roads and surrounding motorway junctions and this development will only bring more cars to the area, on top of the already increasing amount of car users as a result of the undirected housebuilding in the area.
“While local jobs and employment should be supported where possible, Bolton Council need to improve our current highways infrastructure before enabling unsuitable ventures like this to go ahead.
“These plans will only make the ongoing problems on our roads even worse and see the further destruction of our green spaces and I will be writing to the council, urging them to prevent this development.”
Those who wish to object to the development can do so by submitting their concerns to Bolton Council’s planning portal, quoting the planning reference 04766/18 before the 13th of December.
