It was great to visit Moss Bank FC last week to chat with Marcus and Andy about the fabulous work the club does for the community.
There is a possibility of funding from the Football Association and other bodies that could be worth up to £1.5 million, and with this they could fix a drainage issue and invest in a state-of-the-art 3G pitch. This would provide an even better experience for the 600 members that attend the club each week.
For this funding to be granted, Moss Bank FC needs to ideally have a 30-year lease so that they can comfortably meet the requirements of funding bodies. After the initial offer from Bolton Council of a 10-year lease, they have improved it to a 25-year lease, but we need to go one step further for a 30-year lease because it allows for flexibility and opportunity for more funds for the local community.
The organisations offering this funding need long-term certainty from the clubs they invest in, and so I am working with the Council to extend the lease to a full 30 years, to put Moss Bank FC in the best place to secure funding for the 58 teams they manage and coach.
